Source
Note that all our audio material has been recorded direct to digital and is at 48k f/s in its original form. In preparation for real audio encoding sounds have been converted to 22k sampling rate. And where the source was in stereo, it has generally been converted into a mono file. The sounds have been encoded for best results over 28.8 Kbps modems.
Software
To download the relevant playback engine click on the logos at the top of the page and you will link to the appropriate site. You then need to set up your browser to use the Real Audio player (as a helper application) with files suffixed .ra and .ram.
If you want to know more about including Real Audio on your own site we can recommend the tutorial pages provided by Babylon 6's Beginners Guide to Real Audio.
REAL AUDIO - how playback works...
When you click on the sound links, your browser is directed to the relevant audio file. Your browser should automatically load the Real Audio playback software (not the plugin) and begin to download the file. The Real Audio control panel will appear on your desktop and, once enough of the file has downloaded, it should begin to play automatically; you can use the controls to pause and continue during playback or to play the file again (until the control panel is no longer the active window). The audio file will be cached on your hard disc until you quit the playback software.
MP3
Mp3 technology is a great way to put sound on the internet, it offers great compression giving you small file sizes, still with cd quality audio. The album samples on this site are in mp3 format, the have been compressed to FM Radio quality, not cd quality. The CD you buy from us comes with crystal clear cd quality audio.
Software
most computers these days have some kind of mp3 player, but if you find you don't have any software, we'd recommend Winamp.
