Rainforest Soundwalks
An album of natural soundscapes from the Bosavi rainforest of Papua New Guinea recorded and produced by Steven Feld. From a pre-dawn butcherbird solo of extraordinary virtuosity through a mid-morning soundscape highlighted by the rhythmic maraca-like rattling of cicada, to an evening ambience of ringing insects and frogs, the sound worlds conjured by Feld draw us into the acoustic ecology of the Bosavi forest with an unusual depth and clarity.Steve has been studying and recording the natives of the area (both human and wild) for over a quarter of a century. |
